At Modere we provide colloidal and chelated mineral supplements. The difference between colloidal and chelated minerals are as follows:
Colloidal is a term we reserve for liquid mineral nutrition, such as our Natural Mineral Drink. A colloid is a type of mixture in which one substance is dispersed evenly throughout another. The benefits of colloidal would be best described as being due to the particles being small and evenly dispersed throughout a liquid suspension, making them easier for your body to absorb.
Chelated minerals on the other hand can be found in our solid dose products, such as the D3 plus which is a chelated mineral supplement. Chelated means that the minerals are bound to amino acids, in order to help them be better absorbed by the body.
You may also see that where possible and to assist in the potential absorption we do offer co-factors within our vitamin formulations, such as zinc and vitamin c within our multivitamin (adult multi plus botanicals).
Whether one form is better than another would vary from person to person, dependent upon their overall health and their bodies ability to absorb the nutrients. The use of medications, caffeine, alcohol and digestive health complaints could also impact an individuals ability to gain maximum benefit from either or both supplement types.
As always we would recommend you speak to your qualified health professional to ensure that any vitamin or mineral supplement is right for you.
